Gilbert Sendugwa is the Executive Director, Africa Freedom of Information Centre (AFIC) and has a rich experience in successfully managing donor funded projects spanning nearly 2 decades. He has more than 15 years of leadership experience at senior management level in international organizations and sits on various Board of Directors and Steering Committees on nonprofit organizations and initiatives. He has successfully designed and implemented several donors funded projects. Gilbert has enormous experience in access to information, transparency and social accountability at international, regional and national levels. Gilbert has participated in campaigns aimed at advancing the RTI in Africa through advocacy engagements at international and regional levels. To his greatest achievement, he was heavily involved in the campaign that saw UNECSO pass the resolution to commemorate the IDUAI on September 28th of every year. Since his campaign for RTI Africa has since had an increase of 10 countries to adopt RTI. Gilbert holds a Master’s in management Studies, Postgraduate diploma in Project Planning and Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Social Administration. He has undertaken a series of short management and skills training such as Advances in Health Communication by the John Hopkins University, International School for Transparency on Access to Information and Participatory Appraisal Skills training among others.
