Women hold lower positions and cover "soft news," while men face physical risks. Female journalists endure unequal pay and higher sexual harassment. Media organizations adopt safety measures, including policies for female journalists. Professional bodies and unions strive to protect female journalists despite limited resources. Legal frameworks promote media freedom but lack specific laws for female journalist safety. Civil society organizations advocate for media freedoms, offer training, and provide safety equipment. Academia contributes to capacity-building. The UN supports journalism activities.
